Getting the “Space” We Need

I've been busy streaming shows like the medical drama, "The Pitt," airing on Max, which is really “ER” with cussing, and "Balloon Pop,” a new Netflix dating show that is surprisingly entertaining and proof that my future grandchildren will probably have no clue that reality TV isn’t the only place you can meet your person. But since I'm hooked on these and many others, I almost missed two phenomenal bits of news.
First up, Michelle Obama spoke out about rumors that she and President Obama are separated and possibly divorcing. She said the rumors are not true and that she's simply putting herself first for a change. But often when celebrity couples publicly deny they're calling it quits, they're already dividing up their A-list friends and have put their Sleep Number mattress on FB marketplace. I’m hoping the former FLOTUS and POTUS are like many other long-married couples who have the trust and multiple homes needed to comfortably endure a little break.

Which brings me to the second story about a break of another kind. By the time you read this, America's most famous bestie Gayle King, might already be headed to orbit or be on her way back. She and Oprah have famously taken multiple road trips and sometimes enough is enough, my words, not theirs.
I'm thinking Oprah said "look Gayle, I think we could use some space.” And Gayle misunderstood.
However it happened, Gayle is flying solo on this trip, that is if you don’t count the five women who are also on the mission.

The entire trip is supposed to last about eleven minutes so none of the travelers will have time to really miss their earth-bound friends and family, and vice-versa.
As of this writing, Gayle was packing her iPod (huh?) loaded with her favorite tunes to take onboard the rocket. She’ll be there just long enough to listen to the ten-minute extended live version of one of my favorite Commodores’ songs, Zoom.
Safe travels Gayle!
